Daily journalling is a hugely valuable technique with many benefits, and can help you uncover patterns and make observations on your working habits and preferences.
Carry a small notebook with you each day.
Before you leave work, take five minutes to note down what you did during the day, in bullet points.
Then go back over the list once more, and put a PLUS next to anything which you enjoyed, and a NEGATIVE to anything you disliked.
The positives may be closely linked to what motivates you.
Do this exercise for a week, and see if you can see any patterns or similarities in the activities which you enjoy.
