Hello, I'm
Elizabeth Boyd
I work brilliantly together with …

People who are funny, creative, honest, and kind human beings! I also love people who are passionate about what they do - whatever that is.

My values are: ► Collaborative ► Stimulation ► Achievement ► Self-Direction ► Security ► Iteration ► Benevolence

I enjoy knowing how other people work so there is mutual respect & understanding. I don't gossip and choose not to engage with others inclined to be sneaky or just plain jerks.

"Yes, And..." People are my kind of people.

Three things I’ve done recently which I’m proud of are …

1) In December 2023, I completely reimagined a quarterly onboarding culture event for an organization, turning it from a "bootcamp" (where people sat in a windowless room for three days staring at a floor-to-ceiling screen of presentations and "executives" talking through the decks) to an interactive three-day event where play, movement, trust, communication, learning, & building community were the guiding principles.

I built a talk-show-style interview format for executives so our new hires could see the person, not just their role. I built four movement & connection-based activities to drive communication and conversation. I planned two events to close out Day 1 and Day 2 that were created to focus on building purposeful & meaningful connections (I added the executive team to Day 2's event).

Check out some elements of the Feb 2024 event here: https://www.notion.so/talentlablive/In-Person-Culture-Event-Planning-035b767b339f416895a668289f3744fc?pvs=4

2) I have built an Open-Source Talent Development & Learning Library to support others who are establishing a L&D function or who are new to the Talent Development & Learning space: https://www.notion.so/talentlablive/Elizabeth-Boyd-s-Open-Source-Library-21644f4c4dd049b48c59f593c07e1a7e?pvs=4

3) in 2023, I supported over 500 organizations in various capacities to build or update their Talent Development & Learning function.

Beyond work, I’m really passionate about ...

As a mom of two boys, I am really passionate about the lives they will lead and the experiences they have that will shape them as they mature. I am focused on creating healthy habits - we have an urban garden in the spring/summer where we grow most of our own fruits, vegetables, & herbs. I am passionate about our climate and supporting a healthy environment so I use an old-fashioned push-reel mower to cut the grass. As a family we sponsor the planting of eight trees per month, globally.

I add value to teams by …

I am collaborative, energetic, & enthusiastic about the work I do with my business partners. I am a lifelong learner and enjoy hearing different perspectives & opinions to ensure we capturing various points of view & creating the most exciting & engaging learning experiences that support our organization's mission & vision.

I am an open-source business partner, so I create & curate content that drives critical conversations & critical thinking.

The best way you can check-in on me is ...

► Just ask...I like people who are authentic & human so, let's talk ► Let me create a space for fun with our team (and anyone else who wants to have some fun) ► Schedule a virtual happy hour with our team so we can connect and chat

You’ll convince me to get on board by …

Being open to new ideas & innovative solutions. Be able to brainstorm with me to determine the best solutions for challenges. I would like to know what problem we are solving - this helps me identify what can work for the population (it's not always a training course). Knowing that the project will be collaborative and a value-add to most people excites me & inspires me to bring my best self to the business daily.

What motivates me to come into work each day is …

► Engaging with great colleagues ► Having fun & positive conversations about the business ► Learning something new each day ► Connecting with people to support their career journey

The basics you should know about me are ...

Elizabeth Boyd | beth@talentlab.live | US: 646 246 1380 | UK: +44 20 8732 3564

I am a mom to two fantastic boys, Parker (17) & Cooper (13). My hobbies are cooking, baking, & cocktail-making, roller-skating, traveling, museums, & tennis.

I’ve discovered that I best like working in the following ways …

► I enjoy digging into projects right away and creating a prototype so that we can work through how the programming should look ► I also like to schedule connection time with my colleagues just to chat and share ideas and work through obstacles ► There are times that I will block "focus-time" on my calendar to get some deep work done (these are 90-minute productivity sprints for myself) ► I also enjoy scheduling three weekly 60-minute productivity "groove" sprints for the team. We meet for 60 minutes (for the first 10 minutes we discuss what we plan/need to get done in the next 40 minutes. We then stay on camera but mute our mics. At the 50-minute mark we rejoin the group and share what we accomplished.

The sort of projects which really excite me have …

► A problem we're solving for people ► Colleagues who are available to answer questions ► Consistent check-ins ► Challenge ► Data-informed projects that drive decision-making (eliminating most delays caused by humans) ► My favorite projects empower people and make them smarter

My Personality Profile is ...
ENTP

"They tend to be bold and creative, deconstructing and rebuilding ideas with great mental agility. They pursue their goals vigorously despite any resistance they might encounter."

What I think deserves celebrating is ...

►People who consistently deliver on their promises ►People who display a growth mindset (time & a stipend to attend external learning opportunities) ►Good, kind, authentic human beings ►I think cultural holidays should be celebrated (virtual cooking events & learning)

My best working patterns look like ...

I work a fairly linear schedule to ensure that I am available to my colleagues all over the globe at certain times of the day. I also have flashes of creativity at odd hours so when I am working on a project, I may be up in the middle of the night creating. It's really about when creativity strikes, I make the most of that moment.

The things I really miss about working together in the same space are ...

Creating meaningful & lasting connections with colleagues. Remote work is more transactional than in-person work. I have always had close work friends and that element is missing a bit in the remote work world.

The things which prevent me from doing my best are …

► Toxic work environments ("no, but" coworkers/environments, gossipy cultures, duplicitous cultures) ► Companies prioritizing productivity (metrics) over progress or people ► C-Level & Executive "teams" filled with hubris ► Lack of diversity in perspectives & people

When I'm dealing with stress, I ...

I don't feel stress or anxiety too frequently; I can manage my emotions, expectations, and calendar efficiently. I lean into humor to manage challenging situations and don't take myself or others too seriously.

There are times when I need time & space to get my work done but I create a calendar to ensure I am early with all of my deliverables. I ensure that I take time off to focus on things outside of work that I am passionate about and that helps keep me centered and calm.

The best way to give me feedback is …

Provide it at the moment and please be candid. If I did something well, let me know. If you need me to adapt/update, let me know. I would hate to be surprised by feedback after the fact so please feel comfortable giving it as soon as possible so I can react and pivot if need be.

The stages of a project I work best at include …

I enjoy collaboration and am eager to help wherever I can. If that means being an SME or being involved in the full-cycle of the project, I am here for all of it!

The sorts of outputs and outcomes I create include …

I make learning programs fun & engaging for people through relevant workshops and experiences that are meant to leverage social learning & adult learning theories. I believe in micro-learning and creating journeys with multiple touchpoints to make key ideas sticky & memorable.

The brief I can work best from includes ...

My first question when designing a learning experience is, "what problem are we solving"? I need to know what the goal/objective is to design a learning experience that solves a challenge and allows people to do their best work that is aligned with the organizational goals.

People often say I’m brilliant at …

Creating experiences that excite people. My proudest moments are when I have to schedule another workshop because word of mouth has spread and people are disappointed to have missed an event!

My absolute requirements to do great work are ...

Collaborative, kind, & fun colleagues are my #1 requirement for loving my job & producing my best work. I have a "No Jerks Policy" that I absolutely believe in. I need to believe that where I work is doing good things for their people, their clients, & their community.

I use a laptop most of the time. I still take notes with a pen & paper. I love challenges and a fast-paced environment.
